Child's Play: Why We Started Alchemy Minerals

Clay. Bath time. Better days.

There's a scene that plays out most weeks in both our homes: warm bath water, a scoop of clay stirred in until it turns cloudy, and a child's hand painting a stripe of it up their arm like war paint.

For us, it's not just bath time.

It's a ritual — and it's the reason Alchemy Minerals exists.

Where it started

We're Niki and Claire, two mums totally committed to helping their little ones and offering support to others about healthy eating, impactful lifestyle changes, movement and preventative health.

Niki is a Naturopathic Nutritionist and Nutritional Therapist (DipNT, ANP) and Claire has been a health advocate for years and has a deep passion to build something special for family wellbeing.

We didn't set out to build a supplement brand.

We set out to solve a problem in our own kitchens: how do you help your children feel resilient in a world that is, frankly, full of things you can't control?

Little humans aren't just small adults.

They're sponges — for information, for habits and for their environment.

We started asking: what's the gentlest, most joyful way we could bring that support home?
The answer, for us, was clay.

And honestly — it's child's play.

The Elemental Soak

We formulated Elemental Soak as a blend of four clays, each with its own personality:

Red clay

Traditionally used to support circulation in the skin.

Green clay

Often reached for to support lymphatic movement, something Claire is particularly passionate about.

Rhassoul clay

Prized for centuries for remineralising and softening the skin, which matters more than people realise, since skin is our largest organ and our first barrier to the outside world.

Bentonite clay

The real magic of the mix. Bentonite carries a strong negative charge, which means it naturally draws positively charged particles towards it into the bath (such as chemicals, excess oestrogens, pesticides and heavy metals). This is the clay doing the work of pulling impurities up and out of the skin's surface, rather than letting them sit there.

What we've noticed

As a nutritionist, Niki has used fulvic and mineral rich clays with clients for years, and the feedback has been consistent — client after client reporting they sleep more soundly on the nights they've had a clay bath.

We're not going to tell you that's proven. We can only tell you it's a pattern we've seen too many times to ignore, and it's part of why we believe in this so deeply.

At home, it's become something bigger than a product. Bodhi — Niki's son — now asks for a "clay bath" when he's feeling a bit under the weather, the same way another child might ask for a favourite blanket.

Whether that's the clay, the ritual, the warm water, or all three together, we're not precious about labelling it. What matters to us is that he's learned to notice how he feels and to reach for something that helps — and that's a skill that will serve him for life.

Why this matters to us as parents

Little humans today are taught about plastics and pollution at school, often before they're taught anything about how their own bodies can respond and recover.

We wanted to close that gap at home — not with lectures, but with something they could touch, paint on each other, and giggle about.

That's the heart of Alchemy Minerals: giving families a small, joyful, hands-on way to feel a little more in control of their own wellbeing, one bath at a time.

No fuss, no complicated routine — just child's play.
